<![CDATA[FORMER ATHEIST MINISTRIES - Blog]]>Sat, 30 Sep 2017 07:25:02 -0700Weebly<![CDATA[What's next]]>Sat, 16 Jun 2012 14:07:07 GMThttp://formeratheist.org/blog/whats-nextI am going to read thru all my Van Til books again in preparation for writing an article on apologetic methodology. I also want to firm up my understanding of pressupositional apologetics before I rewrite my article on the Cosmological argument since I have recently learned the criticisms of it from Greg Bahnsen. There seems to be a lack of understanding of the pressupositional arguments against the traditional arguments for the existence of God. I would like to explain this and hopefully reach a wider audience. How many people have heard the explanation of how the Cosmological argument necessarily shows a god that is not transcendent? Sometimes it makes me wonder about the whole methodology when so many people who identify themselves as reformed apologists do understand some of these things. What good is it if even our brothers and sisters in Christ do not understand our arguments let alone everyone else? But still, I believe a better job can be done to communicate our message. This will probably involve more teaching of logic and argumentation, philosophical discussions relevant to those found in the Bible, a bit of patience, prayer, perseverance, ...

<![CDATA[The Knowledge You Have]]>Mon, 11 Jun 2012 22:40:38 GMThttp://formeratheist.org/blog/the-knowledge-you-haveIn the past I have been hesitant about writing on topics until I thought I could go toe-to-toe with those who make their living and debate on those topics. I have come to realize that I do have knowledge that is worth sharing. It may not be comprehensive, but that should not be a prerequisite. Sometimes you do not realize that their are people around you that want to hear what you have to say. I have been reminded of this recently in a few different situations. Part of my apprehension is that I do not like to write. I have never liked to write. Lately I have been trying to think about what I can bring to light that is new and not just a rehashing of what has already been said. I hope to be able to explain some complicated topics related to apologetics and convey them in such a way that they are accessible to a much wider audience that has been typically available. With that said, I would appreciate any feedback on anything you find here and do not understand so that I can better attempt to remedy the situation.
